         OK, this is the story of Cocoa, the chocolate lab.

 

                              Cocoa the Great

                                                     Chapter 1

 Cocoa got up and got dressed like every morning. It was school picture day and Cocoa dredded it.

“What if I look ugly?” she thought. She had to look perfect.

                                

She went outside to wait for the bus. She hoped that something didn’t happen on the bus that made her look ugly for picture day. 

          When the bus got there, she cautiously got on. She took her usual seat by Brad Starcle, the hottest guy at her school. She had a MAJOR crush on him and thought he had a crush on her too. “Hey Brad!” she said. “Oh, hey Cocoa!” he said,”Me and John are going to the Bowling Alley after school, wanna come?”  “Sure!” said Cocoa, ” Did your mom dress you?” “Yeah,” said Brad,” She doesn’t trust me picking out my clothes on picture day.” “Oh,” said Cocoa. They were silent the whole way to school.

       When the bus got to school, Cocoa started to dread picture day even more. She walked to class with a pit in her stomach.

     Unlike most of the classrooms, Cocoa’s class was fun. The floor wasn’t that gross gray carpet, there was a TV, and even a Booger multiplication chart! Her classroom made her feel not so nervous. Just then, Sarah Slappersun walked in. Cocoa couldn’t stand her! Then her friends Clarice and Janice walked in behind her. Cocoa started to feel bad again. Sarah was a teacher’s pet. The teachers thought she was an angel. She was actually a snooty,snotty, brat! She was ALWAYS mean to Cocoa. She also flirted with Brad. He always tried to be polite, but you could tell he was annoyed. Sarah and her friends walked up to Cocoa.

       

      

“Well, well, well,” Sarah said,” Who let a rat in the building?” “Hardy har har, very funny!” said Cocoa. “Oops, it’s not a rat!” she said,” It’s worse! It’s Cocoa!” Her friends laughed out loud. “The only friends you can get is stupid poodles?” Cocoa said. “Hey!” Clarice said, “We’re not stupid poodles! Besides, I’m a PINK Poodle! Thank you very much! “Who cares?” said Cocoa, “You’ll never be as stupid as Sarah!” “You shouldn’t of done that.” Sarah said. She got a water bottle out of her backpack and squirted it all over Cocoa’s skirt. Cocoa could feel herself getting very hot. ” Cocoa baby, I thought I told you to go to the bathroom in the toilet, not your underwear!” She and her friends laughed histerically. ” WHY YOU LITTLE-” “COCOA!” her teacher Mrs. Florence yelled,” Why were you yelling at Sarah?!” Cocoa said”I-” “She was yelling at me because I asked her where she got her shirt and she just exploded.” Sarah said sobbing. ” THAT’S SO NOT TRUE!” Cocoa yelled. “Enough lying Cocoa! I’d expect better from you!” her teacher said. “But Sarah’s lying!” Brad said. “Brad, enough lying just to help your friend. Cocoa, I think you owe Sarah an appoligy.”  “Sorry,” Cocoa said. “OK class, in your seats!” Mrs. Florence said.

   ”Why does Mrs. Florence have to like Sarah so much?” Cocoa whispered to Brad. ” I don’t know.” Brad whispered, ” But we’ve got to stop her!”

 A few minutes later the class headed to the gym to have their pictures taken. Cocoa stepped in front of the canvas and smiled. The photographer took her picture. it wasn’t bad at all.

 

After school, Cocoa headed to the bowling alley. She saw Brad and John and said “Hi!” “Hi!” they said, “we’re going to get snacks!” “Ok!” Cocoa said. She put on the bowling shoes the manager gave her.

 “These shoes are so ugly!” she thought. She started bowling and forgot about the shoes!

 

   ”COOL!” said Cocoa,” I knocked them all down except for two!” She bowled again.

                    She knocked the two pins down she got a spare!

 Just then, Brad and John came in. “Congratz!” they said. 30 minutes later, they went home.

                                                                            Chapter 2

                    Cocoa woke up to the sound of her mom. “Wake up!” she said. “OK,” Cocoa said,”Mom, did you ever have anyone you couldn’t stand in school?” “No,” said her mom. “Oh,” said Cocoa.

                Cocoa went to wait for the bus. When it got there, Cocoa sat next to Brad. ” Hey Brad!” she said. He was wearing the same shirt as her! “Cool shirt!” he said, “You a fan of the Flamers?” Cocoa had watched some football games with her brother and had a favorite team. That team was the flamers. “YEAH!” she said. “Cool!” said Brad.

           When the bus got to school, Brad and Cocoa walked to class together. When they got there Brad said, “Cocoa?” “Yeah?” she said.

                              ”You know how we’ve been friends for a long, LONG time?” Brad said. “Yeah,” said Cocoa. “Well,” he said, “Do you wanna be my girlfriend?’ Cocoa felt like a thousand, no, a million butterflies were inside her stomach. It was a GREAT feeling. “YE- I mean sure.” she said trying not to scream of excitement. “CO- I mean that’s cool,” Brad said the same way Cocoa did. Nothing could ruin this day. Well, almost nothing. Just then Sarah and her “crew” came in. Sarah walked up to Cocoa with a bottle of cola but Brad stood between them.

      ”Brad,” Sarah said, “Let me ruin this loser’s hideous outfit!” “SHE’S NOT A LOSER AND SHE HAPPENS TO BE MY GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!” he yelled. Sarah was surprised and mad. “WHAT?!” she yelled back, “How could you like this freak?!” “She’s not a freak and how could I not like her?!” he said. They kept arguing and Cocoa was in her own thoughts. She was so glad to have a boyfriend like Brad.

                                                                 Chapter 3

 Cocoa was working on her homework. Her and Brad were also passing notes. Cocoa still couldn’t believe what happened earlier that morning! She could hardly work.

  Brad passed her a note. She opened it up and read it.

  Cocoa was so flattered! She wrote something on the paper.

   Cocoa was SOO happy! One, it was friday, two, there wasn’t much home work, 3 SHE HAD A GREAT BOYFRIEND!!!!! Cocoa felt so great!

    After school, Cocoa and Brad stood in Cocoa’s yard. They were talking. Brad said goodbye and blew her a kiss!

 Cocoa knew this was childish, but it showed he loved her, plus, they just became boyfriend and girlfriend! They can’t kiss already!

 

                                                                         Chapter 4

        Cocoa woke up to the sound of tapping on glass. She looked at her window. It was Brad! She got up to talk to Brad.

    

“What are you doing?!” Cocoa asked Brad. “Let me in!” he said, “I have to tell you something!” Cocoa opened the window. Brad climbed throught the window into the room and said ” Sarah and them are planning to get you back good for going out with me!!!!!!!!” “What’s the worst they can do?” Cocoa asked. “They were talking about dumping buckets of worm guts all over you then stuffing them into Mrs. Florence’s desk and blaming it on you so you would get expelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!” he said. “OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!” yelled Cocoa. “Don’t worry!” said Brad, “I got an idea!”

             Brad and Cocoa were hiding behind some trees at the park. They were video-taping Sarah and her friends talk about her plan. Brad started to sneeze but Cocoa covered up his nose. “We can’t get caught!”she whispered. She must of whispered louder than she thought because Sarah walked towards the bush and saw them. She grabbed the video camera and took out the tape. Then she put it on the ground and stepped on it, which caused it to break. “You will not get me in trouble!!!!!” she yelled, “If you hadn’t started being Brad’s girlfriend, you wouldn’t be in this trouble!!!” Cocoa got steaming mad, but she couldn’t do anything to Sarah. This was a public park and the police were guarding it. Cocoa thought Sarah picked this place for that reason but then remembered she wasn’t that smart.

                                                                  Chapter 5

                        Cocoa and Brad were in Cocoa’s room thinking of how to stop Sarah.

           ”No, that won’t work.” Cocoa said. Brad and Cocoa had been in her room for hours trying to think of a plan. ” We’ll never find a solution!!!!” Brad said. “Yes we will!” said Cocoa. Just then, she thought of her brother’s spy equipment. “BRAD!!!!!” Cocoa said excitedly. “what?” said Brad. “I know how to stop her!!!!!” Cocoa said, “You know my brother’s spy equipment?”

             Cocoa had told Brad the plan and they got the equipment. They were gonna put the mini cameras in all 4 corners of the room. Cocoa was gonna hang around Mrs. Florence ALL day. One, to prove she didn’t put the worm guts in her desk, two, so Sarah couldn’t dump them all over Sarah,and three, to be a teacher’s pet for the day so Mrs. Florence would believe her when she said Sarah put the guts in Mrs. Florence’s desk, at least until they showed her the footage.Cocoa and Brad headed to the school to start their plan.

         Cocoa and Brad were in the class. They just put the cameras in the corners and were checking how discreat they were.

    “Perfect!” said Cocoa, “She’ll never notice them!” “Let’s go home!” said Brad. “OK!” said Cocoa. Sarah was out in the hall listening to them. When she heard them coming, she hid. When they left she went in the room to get the cameras, but she couldn’t find them. She knew she couldn’t pull off her plan, she had to tell Janice and Clarice.

                                              Chapter 6

        Cocoa and Brad were at Cocoa’s house. They pressed the button on the remote that made the cameras go on. They were ready for Monday. Cocoa and Brad went into Cocoa’s kitchen.

 

     

 “You want a snack?” Cocoa asked. “Nah,” Brad said, “I’m not hungry.”

  “I can’t believe you have your own kitchen!!!!” Brad exclaimed. “Well,” said Cocoa,” my mom wants the best for me!” They spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen. They were so excited that they were gonna get Sarah expelled. Or at least they thought they were.

 

                                                                 Chapter 7

 Cocoa and Brad ran to the classroom. They were so excited! They just knew their plan would work! When they entere the classroom, what they saw surprised them. Cocoa walked up to Sarah and said, “So, when are you gonna put worm guts in her desk and blame me for it?” she asked. “I’m not gonna. Why would I?” she said innocently. She waved at Cocoa and said, “Have a nice day!”

           Just then, Cocoa realized what was happening. “YOU KNOW!!!” she yelled. “That’s right” said Sarah,”and you CAN’T get me in trouble!” In all Cocoa’s years in school, she never knew Sarah would be at her worst in 5th grade. She didn’t even know she could get worse, but she could.

 

                                                                 Chapter 8

         When cocoa got on the bus to go home, Brad her a note. He told her not to open it until she got home. When Cocoa got home, she read the note. It said “Cocoa, meet me at the Garden at 6:00.” Cocoa was SOO EXCITED! She started picking out her outfit. After trying on THOUSANDS of outfits, she finally found the right one.

              “PERFECT!” she said. Now all she had to do was to wait for 6:00. She looked to see what time it was. it was 3:45. “This is gonna take FOREVER!!!” she said. She waited for what seemed like centuries, then looked at the clock again. It was 3:46. “UGG!!!!!” yelled Cocoa. Finally when it was 5:45, she headed off for the Garden. When she got there she saw Brad.

                   ”Hey Brad!” said Cocoa. “Hey Cocoa!” said Brad. “So,” said Cocoa “why did you need me out here at 6:00? Why not another time?” “Because that’s when the sun sets in Kinzville. It’s VERY romantic.” said Brad. “Why does it need to be romantic?” asked Cocoa. “I’ll show you,” said Brad. Then, he did the unexpected.

            HE KISSED HER!! Cocoa felt so happy. She never wanted this moment to end. But sadly, Brad stopped kissing her and said “Any spark?” “Yes,” said Cocoa dreamily. “Well, I gotta go,” said Brad “but that means one good thing.” he kissed her again then went home. Cocoa stayed in the Garden for a few minutes. She needed to sit down for a while.

                   Chapter 9

                Cocoa was running around town looking for Brad. Then she saw John. “John!” said Cocoa trying to get his attention, “John!”  “It seems like you’re in a hurry,” he said. “Where’s Brad?” asked Cocoa. “In the garden? Why?” said John. “I found out how to bust Sarah!” she said. “Aweso-” John started but Cocoa was already gone.

 When Cocoa got to the garden she yelled “Bra-” then she saw something surprising.

  Some yellow lab was kissing him! And he was letting her! He got up and said, “Cocoa, this isn’t what you think!” “Save it!” she said, “We’re through!” she stormed off. Brad ran after her. “Cocoa! Cocoa!” he kept saying. It was no use.

                             Chapter 10

                 When Cocoa got home she slammed the door and stormed to her room. Her momm cam in and asked her what was wrong. “Brad was cheating on me!” she yelled. “What?” asked her mom. “Well, I know you’re mad but look on the bright side,”  said her mom. “What? That my dream boy is a two-timer?” Cocoa asked. “No, that you get to date other guys.” her mom said. “I don’t want to.” said Cocoa. “Fine,” said her mom, “Supper’s ready.” “I’m not hungry.” said Cocoa. “Fine,” said her mom. Her mom left the room and Cocoa just sat on her bed thinking of how terrible Brad was.

  

 

               Chapter 11

  When Cocoa got to school she saw that  Yellow Lab that was kissing Brad out in the School Yard.

 she ran up to Cocoa and said, “Cocoa, Brad was just teaching me CPR, he wasn’t cheating on you!” “How do I know you’re not lying?” asked Cocoa. “If me and Brad really were kissing do you think I would want you to get back together with him?” asked the Yellow Lab. “You’ve got a point.” said Cocoa. “So you’ll take him back?” asked the Yellow Lab. “Yeah,” said Cocoa. “By the way, what’s your name. “Oh, Sabrina.” said the Yellow Lab.  “Cool, well I gotta find Brad!” said Cocoa, then she went into the classroom and saw Brad.

                  

                          When Brad saw her, he said “What, did you come to yell at me more?” he asked. “Sabrina told me it was just CPR training.” said Cocoa, “I’m sorry I exploded like that. Can you forgive me?” “I’ll do more than that.” he said. He walked up to her and kissed her. Cocoa smiled. Then she said, “Oh yeah, I gotta tell you something, I found out how to bust Sarah!”

   

                        Chapter 12

 ” So Cocoa, what’s the plan?” Brad asked. They were sitting in Cocoa’s living room and Brad was dying to know how to bust Sarah. “OK,” said Cocoa holding up her cell phone, “Step 1, call Mrs. F. and discuss the plan with her,” “But-” started Brad. ” Step 2,” said Cocoa ignoring Brad’s interruption,” Go to class on Monday and make sure everything is perfect,” BUT-” started Brad again. “Step 3,” said Cocoa, again ignoring Brad’s outburst,” Carry through with the rest of the plan,” “BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PLAN?!” asked Brad. ” We get Mrs. F. to dress up as a student so she can actually see that Sarah is evil,” said Cocoa. “Well let’s get started!” Brad said! “I’ve aready called Mrs. F. and gave her her costume,” Cocoa said, ” Now we just have to wait ’til tomorrow morinbing. Get a good night’s sleep and have a good breakfast and try to stay focused,” “O.K.” said Brad, “Can we watch some TV?”  Cocoa paused for a moment and then said “O.K.

                                         Chapter 13

          Cocoa and Brad stood in the classroom with Mrs. Florence in disguise. They were practicing trying to make her voice sound different. “Hey, I’m Suzy J. Samson, from Colorado!” she said. “A little higher,” said Cocoa. Brad said ”Yeah, cause like there’s a little bit of-” “I don’t get what the point is!” interupted Mrs. Florence, ” Sarah is an angel,” “Angel my-” started Cocoa but Mrs. Florence gave her a strong look. “-bottom.” Cocoa finished, “OK, Sarah always has to be here at the same time, so in 3 minutes, she’ll be here.” They just stood and waited.

 Finally, Sarah got there. “He was whispering to Clarice and Janice, and pointing at Mrs. Florence, I mean ”Suzy”. She walked over and said. Where’d you get this thing, at the dump!”  ” Hey, I’m Suzy J. Samson, from Colorado!” said Mrs. Fl-, Suzy. “You’re name should be Looser J. Sampson!” said Sarah. Her friends laughed hysterically.

         

 ”SARAH JENESSA MCCLAIRE!!” yelled Suzy. She took off her costume and Sarah was horrified.

                                                

“Class, you can go out to recess, Sarah, you stay here with me.” said Mrs. Florence sternly.

                                   Chapter 14

       Cocoa and Brad were outside talking. “I wonder what they’re doing to her,” Cocoa said. “I can only imagine,” Brad said smiling. “That’ll teach her!” said Cocoa, “Knuckle touch!” Brad and Cocoa did a knuckle touch and then a teacher came outside. “Mrs. Florence’s class, come in now,” he said. The class ran inside. When the got there, Sarah was nowhere to be found.

           

“Where’s Sarah?” asked Clarice. “Yeah,” said Janice. “Sarah is at the office,” said Mrs. Florence, ” the principal and her mom are talking to her about bullying. Brad, Cocoa, thank you for showing me Sarah is a bully,” “No prob,” said Cocoa. ” This is all your fault!” Clarice whispered sharply to Cocoa. “You are going down!” Janice whispered. But Cocoa didn’t care, she finally got Sarah!

         Chapter 15

   Cocoa came back to school the next day and Sarah wasn’t there. Same thing the next day. Finally, when Cocoa came to school the next morning she said to Brad “I feel really nervous. Sarah hasn’t been here for days,” “Don’t worry,” said Brad “Hey, did you remember when Mrs. Florence found out how Sarah really was mean she said ‘Sarah Janessa McCLAIRE’?” “Yeah,” said Cocoa, “I thought her last name was Slappersun,”  Just then Sarah walked in. Cocoa felt worse than before. Sarah would probably explode on her for getting her in so much trouble.  “Brad,” whispered Cocoa. “Yeah,” Brad whispered back. “I feel worse now.” Brad had no reply. Just then Sarah walked up to them both.

  Chapter 16

       Cocoa wanted to just disapear. But she couldn’t just run off, so she stayed. “Guys,” Sarah said. Here it came, Sarah was going to go off on them. Cocoa realized she was shaking. She bit her lip and got ready for Sarah’s screaming rampage. “Thank you,” Cocoa and Brad’s jaws dropped. “You showed me how wrong it was to treat you that way. I’m really sorry.” Sarah walked away with her head down and shegot into her her seat. Cocoa looked at Brad. They both walked over to her desk.

  ”What?” Sarah said. “Do you want to be our friend?” Cocoa asked. Sarah’s face lit up. “YES!” “Great!” said Cocoa.  After a few minutes Clarice and Janice walke din. “SARAH!” they both screamed. “Hey guys!” she said. They both gave her a big hug.  ” Hey guys, guess what? I’m friends with Cocoa and Brad now!” “You are?” said Janice?” “Guys, give them a chance,” said Sarah. “They’re great friends.”  Clarice and Janice looked at each other then at Sarah. “OK,” they said happily. They all spent the rest of class talking and having fun. Mrs. Florence was smiling because she was so happy they were all friends now.

        Chapter 17

 

            

Cocoa had invited Brad and Sarah to her house to see her newly redecorated room.”Nice!” said Brad. “I like it!” said Sarah. “Thanks guys!,” said Cocoa,”I just thought I’d change it because the whole candy theme made me crave sugar all the time.” “Can’t blame you,” said Brad. “Hey Sarah,” said Cocoa. “Yeah?” Sarah replied. “I always thought your last name was Slappersun but then Mrs. Florence yelled out McClaire as your last name,” “Yeah what’s up with that?” said Brad staring at the Disco Ball. “Oh that was just a nickname.” said Sarah. “How’d you get it?” asked Cocoa. “Um. . . Hey checkers! Let’s play Cocoa!” “Ok sure!” “You guys have fun.” said Brad backing towards the Kitchen door. “You gonna go eat candy?” asked Cocoa. “Uh-huh.” said Brad as he went through the door. Cocoa giggled and turned around to play checkers with Sarah.
